After School Clubs

At St. Michael's we think it is very important for children to experience a range of activities outside of the classroom.  We offer a wide variety of after school clubs.  Can you find a club that you would like to join? We are always on the look-out for more help, so if you would like to help out with an existing club, or begin a new club, please see Mrs Weetman at the school office.

Eco Club:

The eco garden is coming along really well and the children are enjoying learning how to care for plants.  We are working towards our Silver Eco Schools Award and making sure the whole school is environmentally aware.  We have now started to recycle plastics as well as paper.  Recently we planted flower and vegetable seeds and we hope to move them into our garden area when the weather gets a little bit warmer.  In the summer, we should have a lovely colourful area for the whole school to enjoy.  We might also have our pond by then!

Running:

Mr Foster and Mrs Soulsby take children from Key Stage 2 running at Rainton Meadows at lunch time.  We have some excellent runners at St. Michael's and everybody trains really hard to get into the school running team.  They have competed in lots of races this year and even won some trophies!  Keep an eye out in our news pages to see how the teams do in local races.

Football:

Children from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 can join our Football Club and try to win a place on the Football Team. With Mr Foster in charge helped by, Brian and Ian, we could teach Steve Bruce a thing or two! The boys and girls learn all of the basic skills needed for football and the best players are chosen for the team.  Our football team is doing really well this term, winning the local league.

Mrs Soulsby and Mr Bowater are doing a great job training the girls football team too.  They look like they could be as successful as the boys this season!

A new singing club takes place on a Wednesday after school.  It is run by Rebecca Simmonds who makes sure we're great singers and have lots of fun.  You can even suggest some pop songs for the group to learn.  Come along and give it a try it is the best.

I.C.T:

Mrs Boyle has an ICT club for the children in Years 1 and 2 each Wednesday night after school. This is a good chance to practise your computer skills and have fun too!

Irish dancing:
