I would like to say a HUGE thanks to everyone who has been involved with the Year 6 visit last week to Elterwater!

Mr Foster, Miss Horne, Mr Lyn, Mr Foster Snr, Gabrielle, Dominic and Mark, also the staff and activity organisers in Elterwater have made for a Fantastic week for the children!

Emily has loved every moment of her week, and although we missed her here at home, she has had a wonderful experience away from family life that has been an important part of her growth.

You seem very polite and well spoken(even though i haven't heard you speak.) I go to a school in Bristol called Bristol Primary. See i live in the central of Bristol. I think my school is absouloutly discusting compared to yours. I know about your school because my best friend (Trent) lives up in North Yorkshire. Scarbrough. His mam dad sister Julianne Brother Callum and him went through to where your school is to visit there relatives. They saw your school and knew it was very polite they went to find the name of the school and found it. Your Headmaster Mr Foster is very very lucky to have a school like yours. They typed in st michaelsprimary and it came up. They forwarded it to me and I love the saint of the day. I hear a teacher does that. I now know that your school is brilliant and mine is an absoloute dump. Im going to make my mam to move back to Houghton!!!! I don't think she'll let me though. See you soon st.michaels. Emma and I just wanted to say hello to you all from Australia before World Youth Day starts in Sydney!! We are really excited.

We hope all the challengers have recovered from our weekend in the Lake District - the river canoeing certainly helped us when we were white water rafting in Cairns!

Hopefully year 6 and Miss Horn have had a brilliant time in Elterwater - Emma and I were disappointed we couldn't come and help but I'm sure you will have had a great time anyway!

We have enjoyed looking at the pictures of Africa Week and hope that you have a good last week at school before the holidays.

The walk on saturday was great. Even better than the walk was the water and it was nice and cool.When i first stepped in the water it was freezing cold.When i was climbing the rocks in the water my feet was hurting me.

The walk on saturday was brill i have never walked so fare in my life. it was an excelent day. Mr Foster you should do it every year. do it again next year. next year i will come on the Friday as well as the saturday. once again it was an fabulous day!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Talking Hat
One day my Mam took me to the riding shop to get a new hat since my other one had been ruined by the rain.

I was in the barn getting my horses feed when I heard a voice really it was sort of a mumble.

“Let me out of here”

I looked around and couldn’t seem to see anything when suddenly the box began to shake. I opened it and the hat spoke again. “What am I doing here? This place smells! Take me back to the nice shop immediately.”

“I have never heard of a talking hat” I replied.

“I am sorry that you don’t like it here but I need you to protect my head when I ride.”

“Ok I suppose that is what I was made for, but I want you to tidy this messy barn up.”

“Right what do you want me to do?” I asked.

“For a start move those smelly boots!”

“Ok I will sweep the barn as well, but then can we go out for a ride?”

“Yes I suppose it is a deal.” replied the hat.

I moved the boots and did the sweeping then I went down the field to get my horse Bracken. I put on the hat and off we went.

After a few minutes the hat said
“It’s not so bad up here I think I might enjoy this.”

Then it started to rain. The hat started moaning
“What is this?” it asked

“It’s rain” I replied.

“Well I’m not so sure about this!” it complained

“You will get used to it” I answered.


I could see that my life wasn’t going to be easy with this hat but not everyone has a talking hat so I suppose I am very lucky.

I went for a walk in the sunshine today, and found a big purple balloon stuck in the long grass. Guess what! It was the furthest yet!
